➡️ When is this useful?
Scanning is faster when your materials have barcodes, but you don't always need one. Transferring manually is handy when:
A label is missing or damaged
You're moving several materials at once
You're assigning materials to a job and don't have the item in front of you
➡️ How to transfer without scanning
Step 1: Open the location
From the main screen, open the warehouse or truck the materials are coming from. Browse the list or use the search bar to find what you need (for example, search "copper").
Step 2: Select the materials
Press and hold the three dots (⋯) next to a material to turn on multi-select.
Tap every material you want to move.
Tap Transfer at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Set quantities and a reason
Enter the quantity you're transferring for each material.
Choose whether they're going to another location (like a truck) or to a job.
Pick a reason for the transfer. Your reasons are the ones your business set up, so they'll match what your team uses every day.
Step 4: Confirm
Review the summary, tap Confirm transfer, and then Transfer.
That's it, your materials are moved.
➡️ Best practices
✅ Always pick a reason. It keeps your records clean and makes Movement Reporting much easier to read later.
✅ Double-check the destination on the summary screen before confirming, especially when you're moving several materials at once.
✅ Add barcodes when you can. Manual transfers are a great backup, but scanning is quicker day to day and reduces picking mistakes.
➡️ Common Issues
"I can't turn on multi-select."
Make sure you're pressing and holding the three dots (⋯), not tapping them. If it still doesn't work, update the SureStock app and try again.
"I don't see the reason my team usually uses."
Reasons are managed in your settings. See Set Up Your Own Transfer Reason Codes in SureStock to check which ones are active.

Can I do this from the web too?
Yes. On the web, you can transfer materials from a warehouse or truck, or add them from the job itself. See Sending Materials to a Job in SureStock.
Can technicians transfer to any location?
Technicians can only transfer to locations they're assigned to.
