➡️ Customizing Your Reason Codes
Head to Settings.
→ Catalog
→ Transfer Reasons
Add your own reasons and label them.
Classify each one as Increase, Decrease, or Neutral, this tells your reports how that reason affects your stock, so your reporting stays accurate.
Reorder them by dragging into the order you use most.
Enable, edit, or disable reasons you don't need (without losing their history).
📌 Every account starts out seeded with 15 default reasons automatically, so nothing changes for anyone who doesn't touch this setting.
📌 Your custom reasons (and their order) show up everywhere a reason is picked, on web, iOS, and Android, and appear in your transfer activity and movement reports with your own labels.
➡️ Seeing It in Your Reports
Reports use each reason's classification (Increase, Decrease, or Neutral) to reflect how that movement affected your stock.
In Movement Reports and the printed PDF, each entry is color-coded:
🔴 Red — Decrease
⚪ Gray — Neutral
🟢 Green — Increase
➡️ Common Issues
"My report totals look off after adding a custom reason."
Check the classification you assigned (Increase, Decrease, Neutral). If a reason is misclassified, for example, something that should reduce stock but is set to Increase, it'll throw off how that movement reads in your reports. Edit the reason's classification under Settings > Catalog > Transfer Reasons.
"I disabled a reason code, and now I can't find past transfers that used it."
Disabling a reason doesn't delete its history. Past transfers that used it are still there, the reason just won't show up as a selectable option going forward.
"My reordered reasons look different on mobile than on web."
They should match, custom reasons and their order show up consistently across web, iOS, and Android. If you're seeing a mismatch, try refreshing or updating the mobile app to the latest version.
"I'm trying to add a new reason and it won't let me."
You've likely hit the 15-reason cap per business. Disable or delete a reason you're not using to make room for a new one.
"The reason picker looks like the old generic list, not my custom ones."
This can happen briefly if your custom reason list hasn't finished loading, or if your account doesn't have any custom reasons enabled yet. SureStock falls back to the standard list in that case rather than showing you an empty picker. If this persists after a refresh, contact Support.
➡️ FAQs
Do custom reason codes apply retroactively to past transfers?
No, they apply going forward. Past transfers keep whatever reason was selected at the time.
Can I disable a reason without losing historical data tied to it?
Yes, disabling just removes it from the selectable list, it doesn't delete or affect past transfer history.
Where do these reason codes show up?
Anywhere a reason is picked during a transfer, on web, iOS, and Android, plus in transfer activity and movement reports.
Is there a limit to how many custom reasons I can create?
You start with 15 default reasons already seeded in.
