Stock Location Analytics & Activity Log

See the total value, trends, and a full movement history for any single warehouse or truck; this article covers what's on the Analytics tab and how to read the Activity Log.

Each stock location, whether a warehouse or a truck, has its own Analytics tab.

➡️ What's included

Total Location Value: a summary of the total value of all materials currently in that location.

Trending Statistics: A snapshot of recent movement trends, what's been coming in and going out.

Activity Log: A detailed, chronological record of every movement in the location. Click any entry to see:

  • Which materials were moved

  • The origin and destination

  • The Running Total: cumulative quantity on hand from the origin location

  • Any notes left by the team member who performed the transaction

➡️ Best practices

Use this tab for a deep dive into one location; use Location Comparison for comparing several.

This Analytics tab is scoped to a single warehouse or truck. If you need to compare transfers, additions, or consumption patterns across multiple locations side by side, use the Location Comparison report instead.

Check here before assuming a discrepancy is a system error.

The Activity Log's chronological record, including who performed each action, is often the fastest way to explain an unexpected quantity change, rather than escalating to support first.

Encourage your team to leave notes on transactions when something's out of the ordinary.

A quick note (e.g., "damaged in transit, adjusted qty") on a transfer or adjustment makes the Activity Log far more useful later when someone's trying to understand why a number looks the way it does.

➡️ Common issues & fixes

"The Total Location Value doesn't match what I expected."

This value reflects your stock, the actual on-hand quantity at that location, multiplied by the relevant cost, not a reference price from the catalog. See Catalog VS Stock for the distinction between what's tracked in each. If the number still looks off after checking that, reach out to support with the specific material and location.

"An activity entry doesn't show any notes."

Notes are optional; they only appear if the team member who performed that transaction left one. No note means none was added, not that something's missing or broken.

"I'm not sure what 'Running Total' means on an activity entry."

It's the cumulative quantity on hand at the origin location after that specific transaction, not a running total for the material across your whole account. It's most useful for tracing exactly how a location's stock level changed step by step.

➡️ FAQs

Does the Activity Log cover consumables and tools too, or just materials?

The Activity Log reflects movement for whatever is tracked at that location, which can include materials, consumables, and tools depending on your setup.

Can I export the Activity Log for a location?

This view is built primarily for in-app reference. If you need this data outside of Ply, check the Movement Reporting report, which covers similar data with Excel/PDF export.

How far back does the Activity Log go?

It reflects your location's full history, there's no rolling cutoff by default.
