➡️ A closer look at Movement Reporting
Movement Reporting is one of the most versatile reports available, and worth understanding in more detail:
A summary chart at the top shows activity trends over your selected date range.
Below it, a detailed table lists every movement event, material name, item number, quantity, move reason (PO adds, adjustments, reconciliations, consumption, etc.), the locations involved, and costs.
You can filter by warehouse and by move reason to narrow things down.
Export the whole thing as Excel or PDF when you're ready to share it.
💡 Movement Reporting can double as a job-cost view.
There isn't currently a dedicated, native job-cost report in SureStock, but since every material transfer to a job is logged as a movement event, filtering Movement Reporting by job-related transfers is the closest built-in way to see costs tied to a specific job or date range.
➡️Best practices
✅ Use Movement Reporting's filters before exporting, especially for large accounts. Filtering by warehouse and move reason first (rather than exporting everything and filtering in Excel afterward) keeps the export manageable and easier to work with.
✅ If you need a job-cost breakdown, try Movement Reporting filtered to job transfers first. It's not a dedicated job-cost report, but it covers the same underlying data for most use cases.
✅ For anything not covered by a built-in report, like total inventory value broken down by location, reach out to support rather than trying to piece it together manually. Our data team can often produce a one-off or recurring export for larger or more specific reporting needs.
➡️ Common issues & fixes
"I need a report showing total on-hand inventory value, broken down by location, including the total amount per location."
This isn't currently a built-in report — it's come up as a real request, especially for larger accounts with many trucks needing monthly reporting for accounting or ownership purposes. In a real case, our data team produced a custom export with two views: a location-level summary (item count, total quantity, total value per location) and a full item-level detail sheet. If you need something similar, reach out to support with your reporting cadence (one-time or recurring) and we'll coordinate getting it built for your account.
"I'm trying to see the cost of materials used on a specific job, but there's no dedicated job report."
Correct, SureStock doesn't currently have a native job-cost report. Use Movement Reporting instead, filtered to the relevant date range; every material transfer to a job shows up there with its cost, giving you the same underlying data.
"My Movement Report export is huge and hard to work with."
Apply the warehouse and move-reason filters before exporting rather than exporting everything, this keeps the file to a manageable size, especially for accounts with a large number of locations or a long date range.
➡️FAQs
Can I schedule a report to be sent automatically on a recurring basis?
Not natively today for most reports. If you need something on a regular cadence (weekly, monthly), reach out to support, this is something our team can often set up as a recurring manual export while a native option isn't available.
What information does the Movement Report capture for each event?
Material name, item number, quantity, the move reason (PO add, adjustment, reconciliation, consumption, etc.), the locations involved, and the associated cost.
