Overview
A pick list is a staged transfer: it tells your team which materials to pull from an origin location and where to send them. Instead of moving stock instantly, the materials are placed On Hold and only transfer once the pick list is marked Completed.
A pick list goes from:
an origin (Warehouse, Truck, or Job)
to a destination (Warehouse, Truck, or Job)
š” Not sure if you need a pick list or a Regular Transfer? See Regular Transfers vs. Pick Lists.
Creating a Pick List
Go to Stock and open the origin location (for example, your Warehouse).
Select the materials you want to send.
Click Create Pick List.
Choose the destination (Job or Truck).
(Optional) Add dates and assign the pick list to the person responsible for pulling the items.
What happens after you create it
Once created, the pick list moves through these statuses:
Status | What it means | Inventory |
Needs Refill | One or more materials don't have enough stock at the origin | š” On Hold |
Ready to be Assembled | All materials have enough stock and are ready to be pulled | š” On Hold |
Waiting for Pickup | Items are packed and waiting for the tech to pick them up | š” On Hold |
Completed | The pick list is done | ā Stock transfers to the destination |
While materials are On Hold, the quantity is reserved for this pick list, so no other pick list or transfer can take those units. The hold is released automatically when the pick list is Completed or Archived.
To update a status, drag the pick list to the correct column.
š For more on each status and what you can do in Needs Refill, see Understanding Picklist Statuses in Ply.
Print a Pick List for your warehouse team
Pick lists can be exported as a PDF with a printed checklist of all items, quantities, and barcodes. Hand it to your warehouse team so they can walk the floor and check items off manually; no device is required during the pick.
Open the pick list and click on the Print icon in the top-right.
This will download the document.
š” Many field service companies use pick list PDFs as a modern replacement for paper transmittals. They show exactly what left the warehouse, when, and who it was assigned to, with a signature line for accountability.
