Creating a Pick List from a Template

Turn any stock template into a ready-to-pick list in a few clicks. Use the whole template or just the items you need, adjust quantities, and see right away what needs to be ordered.

When to Use This

Use this when you want to move a standard set of materials from one location to another, for example, restocking a truck or prepping materials for a job, without building the pick list item by item. The template gives you the starting list; you decide what goes in and how much.

If you haven't built a template yet, see Creating a Stock Template & Applying It to New Locations first. If you want to add template materials directly to a location's stock instead of picking them, see Applying a Template to an Existing Location.

šŸ“Œ Heads up: The Template feature is currently only available on the web version of Ply. It is not yet supported on the mobile app.

How to Create a Pick List from a Template

  1. Go to the Stock tab

  2. Click the Templates tab

  3. Open the template you want to use

  4. Select the materials you want to include, check individual items, or use Bulk select to select the entire template

  5. Click Create pick list

  6. In Step 1 – Pick List Information, fill in the details and then Click Next step

  7. In Step 2 – List of Materials, review the materials from the template:

    • Adjust quantities in the Select Qty column using āˆ’/+ or by typing a value

    • Click Add note to leave a note on an item

    • Click the šŸ—‘ļø icon to remove an item from the pick list

    • Use Search and add materials to add items that aren't in the template

  8. Click Next to go through the Equipment, Kits, and Consumables tabs. Search and add any items you need, or leave them empty

  9. Click Save and Add Pick List

  10. If any items need attention, fix them in the pop-up and click Done

  11. Confirm by clicking Save and Add Pick List again

  12. Click Show Pick list to open your new pick list

āš ļø If the quantity you select is higher than what's available at the From location, Ply shows a warning on that item with how many units you'll need to order, for example, "You have exceeded the number of materials at this location, you will need to order 16 additional materials." You can still create the pick list.

Full Template vs. Specific Items

Full Template

Specific Items

How to use

Click Bulk select, every material in the template is selected

Check the boxes next to the items you want

When to use

You want to pick the entire standard template

You only need part of the template

Example

Restocking a truck with its full standard setup

Prepping a few items for a specific job

šŸ’” The checkbox in the header row only selects the materials on the current page. To select every material in the template, use Bulk select, the counter at the top shows the total (e.g., 229 items selected). Click Exit Bulk Select Mode to cancel.

Items Requiring Attention

When you click Save and Add Pick List, Ply checks every item. If any have a quantity of 0 or a serial number issue, the Items Requiring Attention pop-up opens and flags them, for example, "Please select quantity greater than zero."

Option

What it does

Enter a quantity

Set a quantity greater than zero to keep the item on the pick list

šŸ—‘ļø (trash icon)

Removes that one item; confirm with Remove

Remove All

Removes every flagged item at once

Once all flagged items are fixed or removed, click Done to continue.

After the Pick List Is Created

You'll see a Your Pick list has been created confirmation. If any materials exceed the available stock at the From location, it lists them with the Qty Needed and Price (Client/Cost) so you know exactly what to order. Click + Show all materials to see the full list.

Click Show Pick list to open it. The pick list shows its destination, total quantity, and list of materials. If items need to be restocked, it's tagged Need Refill.

You can find all your pick lists anytime under Stock → Pick Lists.
