Reopening a Finished Job in SureStock

Owners and Admins can reopen a finished job from the SureStock iOS app. On the web, just send us the job and we'll reopen it for you.

➡️ Reopen a job from the SureStock iOS app (v1.1.10 or later)

Owners and Admins can reopen a finished job themselves:

  1. Open Stock, go to the Jobs tab, and tap Finished.

  2. Tap the job you want to reopen to open its details.

  3. At the top right, tap Reopen.

  4. Review the confirmation prompt and tap Reopen Job (or Cancel to back out).

  5. You'll see a Job reopened confirmation. The status changes from Finished to Active, and the button at the top right switches from Reopen to Edit.

📌 Before you reopen: tools that were released back to stock when the job was finished don't return to the job automatically. If you still need them there, assign them to the job again after reopening.

Don't see the Reopen button? Make sure your app is updated to version 1.1.10 or later and that your user role is Owner or Admin.

➡️ Reopen a job from the web

On the web app, reopening a job is done by our Support team. Send us the job name or number and we'll reopen it for you, usually quickly.

➡️ Why jobs sometimes close by accident

If jobs are closing before the work is actually done, it's usually a workflow issue in your field service software.

On ServiceTitan, clocking out doesn't close a job by itself: the appointment has to be marked Complete or Done first. This usually happens in the Closeout flow at the end of a shift, when a technician picks "Complete the Job" instead of Pause, Hold, or scheduling another appointment.

💡 If it keeps happening, a quick reminder to your team about which Closeout option to pick when a job isn't finished yet goes a long way.

➡️ FAQs

Can I reopen several jobs at once?
From the app, jobs are reopened one at a time. If you need several reopened, send us all the job names or numbers and we'll do them together.

Will reopening a job affect my inventory?
No. Reopening doesn't change your inventory. Inventory only changes if you make changes on the job after reopening it.

📌 Materials on a job don't go back to stock when a job closes, so you'll need to transfer them back manually. See Sending Materials to a Job in SureStock.

What do I do once I'm done with the job again?
Close it as you normally would.

If my job syncs from my field service software, does reopening it in SureStock reopen it there too?
No, reopening in SureStock doesn't change the job's status in your field service software:

  • ServiceTitan: if the job's invoice is already Posted, it stays closed in ServiceTitan. You'd need to unpost or reopen the invoice in ServiceTitan separately, depending on your permissions and accounting process.

  • Housecall Pro: jobs sync one way (Housecall Pro to SureStock), so there's nothing to reopen on the Housecall Pro side.

  • FieldEdge: jobs are read-only in SureStock, so reopening here doesn't affect FieldEdge. Reopening a closed job in FieldEdge isn't supported through the integration right now.

Can I reopen jobs myself on the web?
Not yet. On the web, reopening is still done by our Support team.
