➡️ What is Movement Reporting?
Movement Reporting lists every change to your materials' quantities over a period, across all your locations. It's the report to open when you need to answer:
Why did this item's quantity change?
Did it move between locations, or to a job?
Was it added through a PO?
Was it adjusted, reconciled, or used?

Go to Reports → Movement Reporting.
The report has two sections: a summary chart at the top and a detailed table below.
➡️ Movement Summary chart
The chart gives you a quick picture of material activity for the date range you selected. Bars are colored depending on whether each movement increased, decreased, or didn't change stock.
Use it to spot patterns like:
A lot of adjustments in one week
A spike in PO additions
Usage going up over time

Below the chart, each row is one movement for one material, with:
Material name and item number
Variation (if applicable)
Serial number (for serialized items)
Location Name FROM / TO
Location Address FROM / TO
Quantity (QTY)
Move reason
Date
Client cost (per item and total)
Business cost (per item and total)
This is where you go when you need to know exactly what changed.
➡️ Choosing a date range
In the top right, pick the range you want to review. Quick options include:
Today / Yesterday
This week / Last week
Last 30 days
Last 3 / 6 / 12 months
Then click Confirm.

Click Filters in the top right to focus on what you need.
By location: review movements for a specific warehouse, truck, or job.
By move reason: show only certain types of activity, like PO additions, reconciliations, adjustments, or any of your team's own transfer reasons. Very useful when you're troubleshooting a specific stock issue.
➡️ Understanding move reasons
Every movement has a reason. A few are created automatically by SureStock:
Reason | What it means |
PO item added | Material was added through a Purchase Order |
PO reconciled | Material was updated as part of a PO reconciliation |
PO reconcile reverted | A PO reconciliation was undone |
Min/max changed | The material's min or max was updated |
Everything else, like transfers between locations, transfers to jobs, and adjustments, uses your business's transfer reasons. The report shows the same labels your team picks when moving materials. To add, rename, or reorder them, see Set Up Your Own Transfer Reason Codes in SureStock.
➡️ Reading the FROM and TO columns
FROM and TO are both filled in: the material moved between two locations, or from a location to a job.
FROM or TO is blank: the quantity changed without a transfer, for example an adjustment, a reconciliation, or a min/max change. Check the Move reason to see which.
➡️ Exporting the report
Click Export as… and choose Excel or PDF. Exports are useful to:
Review movements with your team
Sort and filter the data in a spreadsheet
Keep a record for internal tracking
➡️ What this report shows (and what it doesn't)
✅ It shows: which materials moved, how much, why (move reason), where (FROM / TO), when, and the client and business costs.
❌ It doesn't show: who performed the action, or a before/after snapshot of on-hand quantity.
➡️ Best practices
✅ Filter before exporting. On larger accounts, filtering by location and move reason first keeps the export small and easier to work with.
✅ Use it to see materials used on jobs. Set the date range, export, and look at rows where TO is a job. It's the quickest way to see everything that went out to jobs in a given week or month.
✅ Keep your transfer reasons clear. The more specific your reasons are (for example, "Truck restock" vs. "Return to warehouse"), the easier this report is to read.
➡️ Common Issues
"I see lines that look like duplicates."
Some rows don't come from a transfer. Changing a material's quantity or its min/max also creates a row, usually with FROM or TO blank. Check the Move reason column to tell them apart.
"The serial numbers show in the report but not in my Excel export."
Serial numbers currently show in the on-screen table only. If you need them in a file, reach out to Support.
"I don't see my team's transfer reason in the filter."
The filter lists the reasons set up for your business. If a reason was disabled in Settings, check that it's still active. See Set Up Your Own Transfer Reason Codes in SureStock.

Can I see who moved a material?
Not in this report. For who did what, check the material's Activity tab.
How is this different from Inventory Usage?
Movement Reporting follows every movement across all locations. Inventory Usage focuses on one location at a time and summarizes quantities, costs, and margin. See SureStock Reports.
Is there a job cost report?
Not a dedicated one yet. Movement Reporting filtered to job transfers is the closest built-in option.
