SureStock differentiates between two types of inventory locations for managing your stock.

These are fixed, stationary locations where your inventory is centrally stored. Think of them as your home base, they hold larger quantities of stock, receive incoming purchase orders, and serve as the source of truth for your materials.
Best for:
Receiving and storing bulk inventory
Managing replenishment and reorder levels
Running inventory counts and audits
Transferring stock out to trucks or jobs

In contrast, trucks are locations that travel with your technicians in the field. Each truck holds the materials and tools a tech needs on the job, and stays in sync with your warehouse so you always know what's where.
Best for:
Van/field stock per technician
Job-level material consumption
Field replenishment requests
On-the-go inventory tracking via the mobile app
➡️ Commonalities
Warehouses and trucks work the same way in SureStock. The only real difference is how you use them. Both location types support:
Team member assignment: Open any warehouse or truck from Stock, click the three dots (⋯) in the top right corner, and select Assign & Edit Users.
Adding materials from the Catalog: Select materials in Catalog, then go to Other Options > Add to Location and pick any warehouse or truck.
Transfers: From Stock, select a location, choose the materials, and click Transfer to move them to another warehouse, truck, or job.
Inventory counts: When you create a count (Stock > Stock Level > Inventory Count > Create New Count), you can choose any warehouse or truck as the location.
For the purpose of inventory counts and location tracking within SureStock, both are considered equal, there's no difference in how they are weighted or managed in the system.

"I'm not sure whether to set something up as a warehouse or a truck."
If it's a fixed, central location that receives POs and restocks other locations, set it up as a warehouse. If it moves with a technician and holds field stock, set it up as a truck.
"Inventory counts behave differently on my truck vs. my warehouse."
They shouldn't, both are treated equally for inventory counts and location tracking in SureStock. If you're seeing a real difference in behavior, contact Support with the specific locations involved.
