➡️ How to Request a Job to Be Reopened
Getting a closed job reopened is simple; just contact the Ply Support team with a few details, and we'll handle it for you.
💡 Want the ability to reopen jobs yourself?
We hear you! There's an open feature request for admins/owners to be able to reopen a finished job directly, without going through support. If this would help your workflow, upvote it here. The more votes a request gets, the more visibility it gets with our product team.
➡️ Step 1: Reach out to our support team via
Email: [email protected]
Live Chat: available directly from your Ply dashboard.
➡️ Step 2: Include the following information in your message: Job name/number
Job name/number
(Recommended, not required) A short note on why you need it reopened (e.g., adding missing materials, correcting an error); this helps our team anticipate if anything on the integration side needs a second look before reopening.
➡️ Step 3: Our team will review the request and reopen the job on the backend. We'll confirm once it's done so you can continue working on it.
Response time:
We typically handle these requests quickly during business hours. You'll receive a confirmation as soon as the job has been reopened.
➡️ Why jobs sometimes close by accident
If you're finding jobs are getting closed before they're actually finished, this is often a workflow issue on the FSM side rather than a Ply issue. For ServiceTitan specifically: clocking out itself doesn't close a job — a technician can't clock out while still "on" a job; the appointment needs to be marked Complete or Done first. This usually happens through the Closeout flow at the end of a shift: if a technician selects "Complete the Job" instead of Pause, Hold, or scheduling another appointment — while the work isn't actually finished — the job gets closed out prematurely.
💡 If this is a recurring issue for your team, it's worth a quick training reminder on which Closeout option to select when a job genuinely isn't done yet.
➡️ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reopen multiple jobs at once?
Yes! Just include all the job names/numbers in your support request, and we'll reopen them together.
Will reopening a job affect my inventory?
Reopening the job itself won't change your inventory. Any inventory adjustments will only happen if you make changes in the job.
📌 Note: materials assigned to a job don't return to stock automatically when a job closes; they need to be manually transferred back. See Do materials and tools reappear in my catalog when a job ends?
What happens after I'm done with the job again?
Simply close it again as you normally would once everything has been updated.
If my job syncs from ServiceTitan, HouseCall Pro, or FieldEdge, does reopening it in Ply also reopen it there?
Reopening a job in Ply is independent of its status in your FSM:
HouseCall Pro: job sync is one-way (HCP → Ply only), so there's nothing to reopen on the HCP side. See HouseCall Pro Jobs + Ply: How Jobs Work + Location Responses.
ServiceTitan: if the job's invoice is already Posted in ServiceTitan, it stays closed there regardless of what happens in Ply. You'd need to unpost/reopen the invoice separately in ServiceTitan (subject to your ST permissions and accounting process). See Why a Purchase Order may fail to sync to ServiceTitan.
FieldEdge: jobs are read-only in Ply for this integration (Ply can't write back to FieldEdge), so reopening in Ply has no effect on FieldEdge. See FieldEdge + Ply: How the Integration Works. There's an open feature request specifically for reopening closed jobs on the FieldEdge side, upvote it here if this would help your workflow.
Is there a way to reopen jobs myself, without contacting Support?
Not at the moment; reopening a job is currently a backend-only action performed by our support team. This is a common request, though, and there's an active feature request you can support: Ability for Admin or Owners to reopen a finished job.
