Activate Consigned Locations ⚡

Your Ferguson connection is live; now pull your consigned materials from Ferguson into Ply so your Ghost Warehouse is ready to use. No migrations, no account changes needed.

Already using Ply and ready to activate your Ferguson connection? You're in the right place! This guide walks you through how your existing Ply account will work with the Ferguson Ply Library and Consigned Inventory setup, no migrations or account changes needed.

Requirement

Description

Your Ferguson account is connected to Ply

The Ply team or your Ferguson rep has linked your Ferguson account and enabled the integration. If you can see the Ply Library under Purchasing, you're connected.

Your Consigned Inventory location appears in Ply

A Ghost Warehouse is visible in Stock → Consigned. It may be empty — that's expected and what this guide will fix.

➡️ What Happens When You Link to Ferguson?

Once your Ply account is connected to Ferguson (via the Ply team or your Ferguson rep):

  • Your associated Ferguson Jobs will appear inside your Ply dashboard

  • We’ll enable your Consigned Inventory locations; these show up in the Stock tab under the Consigned tab

  • You can begin adding Ferguson-managed materials using the Ferguson Ply Library

Everything is built right into the Ply workspace you’re already using.

⚠️Verify quantities before adding

The quantities shown come directly from Ferguson Trilogie and reflect what Ferguson says is at your location. If a quantity looks wrong (e.g., items were used before Ply was set up), make note of it and contact your Ferguson rep — you can adjust stock in Ply after setup if needed.

➡️ How to Activate Your Consigned Inventory

Once your Ferguson consigned location is live in Ply, it will be empty until you use the “add material” button to pull the materials data from Ferguson Trilogie to Ply:

  1. Go to the Stock tab

  2. Click on the Consigned tab

  3. Make sure it’s the right Ferguson account

  4. Select the Consigned Inventory location you want to manage

  5. Click Set Up Materials

  6. Confirm the names and quantities Ferguson has on file for each item

  7. Remove any materials if needed

  8. Click Add Materials to finish.

➡️ Best practices

Verify quantities against a recent physical count before finalizing setup, especially if there's been any gap between when Ferguson's records were last updated and when you're activating this in Ply.

Don't confuse the "Ghost Warehouse" with a general job-material staging location.

This is an important distinction: the Ghost Warehouse is exclusively how Ply tracks Ferguson-managed consigned (VMI) inventory — it is not a general-purpose feature for holding job-specific materials separately from a truck's standard stock. See Common issues & fixes below if that's actually what you're trying to solve for.

Activate one location at a time and confirm it looks right before moving to the next, especially if you have multiple consigned locations across different branches or regions.

➡️Common issues & fixes

"I want to keep job-specific materials separate from my truck's regular stock until I'm ready to use them — is 'Ghost Warehouse' the right tool for this?"

No — this is a common point of confusion, but the Ghost Warehouse is specifically tied to Ferguson's Vendor Managed Inventory (consigned) feature, not a general staging mechanism for job materials. If what you actually want is a holding spot for job-specific materials so they don't mix with your truck's standard stock (for example, staging 300 extra PEX rings for a big repipe job separately from the 50 the truck already carries), the current workaround is to set up an additional regular location in your account to act as that intermediate "holding" spot — materials for the job can sit there separately, and once the job is done, any unused overstock can be transferred back to the main warehouse from that location. This specific staging/visibility enhancement has come up as a request from other customers too, but it isn't a built feature yet.

"The quantities showing when I click Set Up Materials don't match what I expect." These numbers come directly from Ferguson Trilogie and reflect what Ferguson has on file for that location — not a live physical count from your side. If something looks off (for example, items were used before your Ply consigned setup was activated), note the discrepancy and contact your Ferguson rep; you can still proceed with setup and adjust the stock in Ply afterward if needed.

"The Consigned tab or Set Up Materials button isn't working / my Consigned location isn't showing up at all."

Reach out to support, this is usually tied to whether your Ferguson account and job locations are fully connected and flagged on Ferguson's side (see Consigned Inventory Setup for more on this pattern). We'll help get it sorted, coordinating with Ferguson directly if needed.
