Understanding Response Locations

What is a Response Location?

A Response Location is the default stock location assigned to a technician or user in Ply. When a job syncs from HouseCall Pro and materials are added to the invoice, Ply uses the assigned Response Location to know where to pull those materials from.


How It Works

When a technician adds materials in HCP, those materials sync into Ply. Depending on how the Response Location is configured:

  • If set correctly, materials will be automatically pulled from the right location (e.g. the tech's truck)

  • If no Response Location is set, materials will default to a warehouse

  • If multiple techs are assigned to a job, the system won't know which truck to pull from, we recommend assigning only one tech per job for this automation to work correctly


How to Set the Response Location

  1. Go to Settings → Company & Billing → Team

  2. Locate the technician

  3. In the "Response Location" column, select the technician's truck or stock location

  4. Make sure the technician is also assigned to the job in Ply

    Example

  • Sean is assigned to a job in HCP

  • He adds a water heater to the invoice

  • In Ply, Sean's Response Location is set to "Sean's Truck"

When the job syncs, Ply automatically deducts the water heater from Sean's Truck
