How to print Barcodes by Category from a Truck: Print Inventory Log.

The Print Inventory Log generates a clean, category-organized PDF of all materials on a truck; including barcodes, SKUs, quantities, and images; perfect for physical audits and field reference.

Need to print barcodes organized by category from a specific truck? You can do that using the Print Inventory Log option directly inside the truck.

This is perfect if you want your barcodes grouped cleanly by category (Fuel Fittings, Electrical, etc.) instead of one long mixed list.

🟡 Print by Category

📋 Full Inventory Log

Select a specific category (e.g., HVAC, Electrical) to print only the materials in that category. Useful when you're auditing or labeling one section of the truck at a time.

Prints everything on the truck in one PDF, automatically organized with sections for each category. Useful for a complete truck audit or handing a full reference sheet to a tech.

Best for: focused audits, printing labels for one product type at a time

Best for: full truck audits, new tech onboarding reference, pre-season inventory check

Where to Find It

The Print Inventory Log option is only available inside each truck. Here’s how to access it:

Step 1: Open the Truck

Go to Inventory → Trucks and select the truck you want.

Step 2: Click the Three Dots (⋯)

In the top-right corner of the truck page, click the three-dot menu.

Step 3: Select “Print Inventory Log”

From the dropdown, choose Print Inventory Log.

Step 4: From there, you can print category by category, and you’ll get something like this:

Step 5 (Optional): You can also print the full inventory list, the file will automatically be split by categories.

What Gets Printed?

When you select this option, the PDF will:

  • Automatically group items by category

  • Show the total quantity of materials

Field

Description

Barcode

Scannable barcode image based on the assigned barcode value

Item Name

Material name as set in the Ply catalog

SKU

Your internal item number or supplier SKU

Category label

Category header separating each group of items

Each category is clearly separated, so it’s easy to print, organize, and use in the field.

⚠️Items without barcodes still appear; but show a "no barcode" placeholder

If a material doesn't have a barcode assigned in Ply, it will appear in the PDF with a blank barcode space marked "no barcode." To add missing barcodes, go to the Catalog and edit each material, or use the Bulk Stock Update to assign them in bulk.

When to Use This

This is especially useful if:

Use Case

Description

🔵 Truck reorganization or setup

Print the full log to see everything on the truck before physically reorganizing shelves. Use the category grouping to match your physical shelf layout.

🟡 Printing barcode sheets by shelf section

Print one category at a time and attach the labels directly to that section of the truck. Techs can scan items in the field without needing to search the full list.

📋 Onboarding a new technician

Hand a new tech the full inventory log so they know exactly what's on their truck and where it's organized before their first job.

🔴 Physical cycle count reference

Print the log, walk the truck, and write actual counts next to each item. Use the discrepancies to update Ply quantities.

🟤 Compliance or safety documentation

Some industries require a record of materials on field vehicles. The Inventory Log provides a dated, printable snapshot.
