Faster Ways to Update Categories (Recommended for Multiple Materials)
If you need to update categories for multiple materials, you don’t have to edit them one by one.
Option 1: Use Bulk Edit Mode
You can use Bulk Edit directly in the Catalog.
1. Go to Catalog
2. Click the Bulk Edit button
3. Edit the Category field directly from there
This is much faster than updating materials individually. You’re still editing materials one by one, but navigating through Bulk Edit makes the process much faster and more streamlined.
Option 2: Use Bulk Upload/Update
For large updates, you can:
1. Download your full catalog.
2. Edit the Category and Subcategory columns in the Excel
3. Re-upload the file using Import
This will overwrite the previous category data with the updated values from your file. This method is ideal if you're restructuring your entire catalog.
Option 3: Bulk Assign Categories from the Catalog
You can assign a category to many materials at once, without opening them one by one.
From the left-hand menu, click Catalog and open the Materials tab.
Select the materials you want to update. Tick them one by one, or click Bulk select to select the full list.
In the action bar at the top, click Other options and select Assign categories.
In the Assign categories window, click Choose category and pick an existing category, or click the + icon to create a new one.
Under Existing categories, choose how the change should be applied:
Add to existing: the categories the materials already have are kept, and the new one is added.
Replace existing: the selected category replaces the categories the materials currently have.
Click Add categories.
Where can I view and edit all my categories in one place?
You can find this within Settings > Catalog > Categories & Types
