There are several ways to update material costs in Ply. The right method depends on how many items you need to change and how you prefer to manage updates.
Below are the five available options, ordered from most manual to most automated.
1️⃣ Update Costs Manually (One by One)
This method allows you to edit each material individually.
- You’ll need to go to your catalog.
- Hit on the little pencil next to your costs.
- Edit the prices.

2️⃣ Use Bulk Edit (Faster Navigation, Still Manual Updates)
Bulk Edit lets you move through materials more quickly and update costs in a streamlined view.

3️⃣ Use Bulk Update (Download → Edit → Re-upload)
This option allows you to update many costs at once using a spreadsheet.
How it works:
- Go to the three dots on the right of your screen within the Catalog
- Hit on Bulk Update Catalog
- Follow the steps in the new screen.
The upload will overwrite existing cost values in bulk.

Best for:
- Updating many materials at once
- Applying different cost changes to different items
- Full catalog updates
This is usually the most powerful and efficient option.
4️⃣ Use Global Update (Percentage Increase)
If your vendor increased pricing across the board, you can apply a global percentage increase.
Example: +5%
What this does:
- Applies the same percentage increase to all materials
- Works business-wide
- Percentage-only (not fixed dollar amounts)
Best for:
- Uniform vendor increases
To do this, you’ll need to:
- Go to the pencil next to the material and hit on it
- From there, hit on “Edit All Materials”

5️⃣ Send the Updated Catalog to Support
If you'd prefer, you can:
- Download your catalog
- Update the costs in Excel
- Send the file to support@getply.com
Our team can process the update for you.
Not Sure Which Option to Choose?
If you're updating:
- A few items → Manual or Bulk Edit
- Many items with different changes → Bulk Update
- Everything by the same percentage → Global Update
Let us know which option works best for you, we're happy to guide you through it.
