Common Error: "Failed to Fetch" in the Ply Punch-Out Extension

Seeing a "Failed to fetch" error in the Ply Punch-Out extension? Here's what's causing it and how to fix it.

➡️ Overview

If you see “Failed to fetch” in the Ply Punch-Out side panel, the extension can’t load your data from Ply. This usually happens when the extension’s saved session gets out of sync with your Ply account.

Until it’s fixed, you won’t be able to import carts, lists, or items into Ply.

🌐 Chrome desktop only
Ply Punch-Out works on Google Chrome for desktop. It’s not available on Safari, Firefox, Edge, or mobile browsers.

➡️ How to Fix It

Try these in order. Most of the time, step 1 or step 3 clears it up.

1. Sign out and back in

  1. Click the Ply icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the side panel.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the side panel and click Sign Out.

  3. Sign in again with your Ply email and password.

  4. Try your import again.

  5. If you don’t see the Sign Out option, or the side panel won’t load, skip to step 3.

2. Make sure you’re on the latest version.

  1. Open the Ply Punch-Out page in the Chrome Web Store and check the current version.

  2. Compare it with yours: go to chrome://extensions and find the version under Ply Punch-Out.

  3. If yours is older, turn on Developer mode (top right) and click Update.

3. Remove and re-add the extension.

If you’re already on the latest version and the error is still there:

  1. Go to chrome://extensions.

  2. Find Ply Punch-Out and click Remove.

  3. Go back to the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome, then Add Extension.

  4. Click the pin icon so the extension stays visible in your toolbar.

  5. Open the side panel, sign in, and try your import again.

💡 Why removing the extension works
Removing and re-adding Ply Punch-Out clears its saved session data, so it reconnects to your Ply account from scratch. You won’t lose anything in Ply: your catalog, POs, and materials stay exactly as they are.
