➡️ What is Inventory History?
Inventory History shows how your inventory looked on a specific date, location by location. It answers questions like:
"What did we have in the warehouse on September 30th?"
"What was the value of this truck's stock at month-end?"
It's especially useful for audits, month-end close, and reconciling your records.
📌 This report includes materials only. Kits, consumables, and tools aren't part of it.
➡️ How to run it
Go to Reports → Inventory History.
Click the arrow next to the location you want to review.
Select the ending date for your snapshot.
Review the list, then click Export to download it.
➡️ What you'll see
A snapshot of every material at that location as of the date you picked, including how many you had and what they were worth.
➡️ Best practices
✅ Run it on the same day each month. Pulling the report on the last day of every month gives you a consistent record for month-end.
✅ Export and keep the file. Saving each month's export makes it easy to compare periods later.
✅ Keep material prices clean. The value in this report comes from your material costs, so placeholder or incorrect prices will show up here too.
➡️ Common Issues
"The total doesn't match the inventory value on my stock location."
The value on a stock location includes materials, kits, and tools. Inventory History only includes materials. If the location has kits or tools, the numbers will be different.
"The value jumped a lot from one day to the next."
This usually means material prices changed, not quantities. If your business updates material prices when a PO is reconciled, a material that had a placeholder price (like $1) can jump to its real cost after a reconciliation, and the report reflects that. Check the materials with the biggest changes and correct any prices that were entered wrong. If you'd rather prices not change on reconcile, review that setting with your team. "A quantity looks off for a past date."
Compare it with the material's Activity tab for that period. If the numbers still don't add up, contact Support with the location, the date, and the material.

Can I pick a date range instead of a single date?
No. The report shows one location on one date at a time. To compare months, run it for each month-end date and compare the exports.
Can I see all my locations in one report?
Not at the moment. Run it for each location and combine the exports if you need a company-wide view.
Does the export include item numbers?
Not currently.
