➡️ What is a pick list?
A pick list tells your team exactly what to pull from one location and where it's going, whether that's a job, a truck, or another warehouse. It keeps everything documented from the moment it's requested until it's delivered.

➡️ How to create a pick list
Step 1: Go to Pick Lists
Go to Stock in the left sidebar and click the Pick Lists tab at the top.
Step 2: Start a new pick list
Click the + Add Pick List card.
Step 3: Fill in the details (Step 1 of 2)
Name: give it a descriptive name
From: the location the materials are coming from
To: where they're going (a job, truck, or warehouse)
Assign Employees (optional): the team members responsible
Request Date (optional): when it needs to be ready
Notes (optional): any instructions for whoever picks it
Click Next.
Step 4: Add items (Step 2 of 2)
You'll see four tabs: Materials, Kits, Consumables, and Equipment, all pulled from the From location you selected.
Use the Search and add materials bar to find items.
Set the quantity, check availability, select serial numbers if needed, and add notes.
Step 5: Save
Click Save and Add Pick List in the bottom right corner. Your pick list shows up on the board under its status column.
➡️ How to print a pick list
Go to Stock and open the Pick Lists tab.
Select the pick list you want to print.
Click Print Options in the top right corner and choose Generate Picklist.
Review the PDF, which includes:
✔️ Job name
✔️ From and To locations
✔️ Materials and kits to pick, in the same order you see on screen
✔️ Barcodes for quick scanning
✔️ Aisle locations to find items faster
Print it and hand it to whoever is picking.
➡️ Best practices
✅ Put handling instructions in the pick list Notes, not only on individual items, so whoever picks it sees the full context.
✅ Keep the SureStock app updated, especially before go-live.
Most unexpected behavior in the mobile Pick Lists section is fixed by updating, or by force-closing and reopening the app.
✅ If picked materials shouldn't count as available stock, turn on "Remove stock when wait for pickup." Go to Settings → Catalog → Stock.
Once a material is picked, its on-hold quantity is deducted from available stock, so nobody else counts on it. For a dedicated space to hold picked materials, see Setting Up Staging Areas for On-Hold Materials in SureStock.
✅ If you use Rolling Replenishment with the Usage strategy, don't use "Edit Quantity" on the truck page to log restocks.
It can cause materials to be left off the next automatic pick list (see below).
➡️ Common Issues
"An automatic pick list (Usage strategy) is missing a material I know went to a job."
This is how the Usage strategy works. It looks at the net change in the truck's inventory during the pick list window:
Net usage = items that left the truck (job transfers) − items added to the truck (manual quantity edits)
Only materials with net usage above 0 make it onto the pick list. So if someone used Edit Quantity to log a restock, and a tech later used that same amount on a job, the two cancel out and nothing shows up.
Two ways to avoid it:
Switch to the MIN or MAX strategy. These compare the current quantity against your thresholds and ignore usage history, so earlier edits won't cancel anything.
Restock through pick lists instead of Edit Quantity. Pick list transfers aren't counted in the net usage calculation.
"A technician can't open Pick Lists on the mobile app."
Update the SureStock app from the App Store or Google Play first. If it keeps happening, force-close and reopen it, or reinstall. Still stuck? Contact Support with the device type (iOS or Android) and what happens when they tap Pick Lists.

Can I sort or filter a pick list by bin location?
Not yet. The printed PDF includes aisle locations to help your team find items.
Is there a more condensed print version?
Not at the moment.
Can I remove a single item from a kit while building the pick list?
Not from inside the creation flow right now.
Can I assign serial numbers while picking instead of when creating the pick list?
Not yet. Serial numbers are selected in Step 4, when you add the items.
Can I see product cost on draft pick lists?
Not currently.
Will materials on an active pick list show as reserved elsewhere in stock?
Not as a separate "Reserved" quantity. If you need them to stop counting as available, turn on Remove stock when wait for pickup (see Best practices).
