Job Activity: Seeing Who Created and Finished a Job

Learn how Ply tracks who created and completed a job, so you always know who did what and when.

Every job in Ply has an Activity tab. It used to record material movements only, what was requested, assigned, or used on the job.

From Ply 6.76, it also records the job's own history:

  • Job created: who created the job and when

  • Job finished: who closed it out and when

Open any job and go to the Activity tab to see the full history.

➡️ Seeing Who Created a Job Without Opening It

The jobs list now shows the creator in its own column, so you can scan who raised what without opening each job individually and checking its Activity tab.

➡️ Jobs That Came From an Integration

If a job came into Ply from ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge, AccuLynx, or Service Fusion, it's attributed to the integration rather than to a person, since there's no Ply user behind it.

This is expected, and it's the quickest way to tell at a glance which jobs were raised directly in Ply and which came in through your FSM.

➡️ Common Questions

Who created this job?

Open the job and go to the Activity tab, or check the creator column on the jobs list.

Why does a job show my integration's name instead of a person?

That job came in through an FSM integration (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge, AccuLynx, or Service Fusion) rather than being created directly in Ply, so it's attributed to the integration.

➡️ Best Practices

Check the Activity tab before questioning a job's timeline.

If you need to confirm when a job was raised or closed, and by whom, the Activity tab is the source of truth, no need to ask around the team.

Use the creator column to scan job ownership at a glance.

If you're reviewing a batch of jobs and want to know who's been creating what, the jobs list column saves you from opening each one individually.

Don't be surprised by integration names in the creator field.

If your team uses an FSM integration, expect to see jobs attributed to that integration rather than a person, this is expected behavior, not a data issue.

➡️ Common Issues & Fixes

"The job I created doesn't show me as the creator."

If the job came in from an integrated FSM (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge, AccuLynx, or Service Fusion), it will show the integration as the creator instead of your name. This is expected, not an error, since the job originated outside of Ply.

"I don't see a creator column on my jobs list."

If you don't see this column, reach out to our support team so we can confirm whether it needs to be enabled on your account.

"An older job doesn't show any activity history."

Job-level activity tracking (Job created / Job finished) was added in Ply 6.76. Jobs created before that release may not have this history recorded. If you're not sure whether your job predates the update, reach out to our support team.
