➡️ What Are Custom Fields?
Custom fields are your go-to for adding that extra bit of info that's unique to your needs. Think of them as your personal touch to any tool or system. They help you track and organize details that aren't covered by the standard fields.
For example, in SureStock, you might want to add extra fields to an item, like "Extra Items#", "Expiration Date", or any other specific details you need. This lets you customize your workflow even more, making it smoother and perfectly tailored to what really matters to you.
💡 If you need to bulk upload custom fields to your materials, just contact our Support team, and we'll be happy to help.
➡️ How to Use Them in SureStock
Go to your Settings.
Click on Catalog > Custom Material Fields.
Click Add Custom Fields.
Type in the field you want to add and click Add Custom Field.
Head back to your catalog and add it to the items you want.
You'll see it in the Materials Information section of the item.
➡️ Common Issues
"I created a custom field but don't see it on my material."
Custom fields need to be added per item after you create them, creating the field in Settings makes it available, but you still have to add it to each material you want it on from the Materials Information section.
"I need to add a custom field to hundreds of materials at once."
Doing this one by one isn't practical at scale. Reach out to Support, our team can help bulk upload custom field values to your materials.
"I'm not sure if custom fields sync to my FSM."
Custom fields are specific to SureStock's catalog. If you need FSM-specific behavior confirmed for your integration, reach out to Support with details on your setup.
➡️ FAQs
Is there a limit to how many custom fields I can create?
Not documented as a hard limit, if you're planning a large number of fields, it's worth checking with Support first to confirm there's no practical constraint for your account.
Can I remove a custom field once it's created?
Reach out to Support to confirm the safest way to remove or edit a custom field that's already in use across your catalog.
Do custom fields show up on POs or job invoices?
Custom fields live on the material's Information tab in the catalog. If you need this info to show elsewhere (like on a PO), check with Support to confirm what's supported.
