Managing Tech Job Visibility in Ply

Overview

The Tech Job Visibility setting controls which jobs your technicians can see in their Ply app. Instead of showing every assigned job all at once, you can narrow down what appears in their view based on scheduling, keeping their workday focused and reducing clutter.


Why this matters

If a tech has dozens of jobs assigned to them over the coming weeks, seeing all of them at once can be overwhelming, and it can make it harder to find the job they're actually working on today. Adjusting Tech Job Visibility lets you tailor what each tech sees so they can focus on what's most relevant.


The four visibility options

🟢 All

The tech sees every job assigned to them, regardless of when it's scheduled.

Best for: teams whose techs need full visibility into their upcoming workload, or businesses with a small number of assigned jobs per tech.


🟢 Week

The tech only sees jobs assigned to them that are scheduled within the current week. Jobs scheduled beyond this week, won't appear in their view.

Best for: teams that plan on a weekly basis and want techs to focus on the current week's workload.


🟢 Day

The tech only sees jobs assigned to them that are scheduled between now and the next 24 hours. Anything scheduled beyond that window won't appear.

Best for: teams that run a tight, day-by-day operation where techs only need to focus on today's jobs.


🟢 Next

The tech only sees jobs assigned to them that are scheduled from now onwards, ordered by their scheduled date (upcoming first). Past jobs won't appear, only what's coming up.

Best for: teams that want techs to have a clean, forward-looking view of their next job or two without getting distracted by anything already completed.

How to change the setting

  1. Head over to Settings > Workspace > Integratuions

  2. Scroll down to the Tech Job Visibility field.

  3. Click the dropdown and select the option that best fits your workflow: All, Week, Day, or Next.

  4. Save your changes.

The new visibility will apply the next time your techs open their Ply app.


Frequently Asked Questions

Does this affect what admins or managers see?
No, Tech Job Visibility only affects the tech role. Admins, managers, and owners always have full visibility.

Can I set different visibility settings for different techs?
Not at the moment. The Tech Job Visibility setting applies to all technicians in your account. If this is something you'd like, let us know and we'll pass it along to our product team as a feature request.

If I switch from "All" to "Day", will techs lose their job history?
No, no data is lost. The setting only controls what's visible in their view, the job data itself stays in Ply.

What happens if I don't set a value?
The setting will fall back to the default (usually All), which shows techs their upcoming jobs from the current moment onwards.
