How to Set Up and Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Ply

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your Ply account. By requiring a second verification step when logging in, MFA helps keep your business and customer data safe—even if a password is compromised.

Why enable MFA?

  • Enhanced Security: Even if your password is leaked, your account remains protected unless the second verification code is also entered.

  • Prevents Unauthorized Access: Drastically reduces the risk of phishing and credential stuffing attacks.

  • Compliance & Peace of Mind: Helps enforce security best practices across your team.

How to Enable MFA (Admin or Owner)

  1. Go to Settings > Manage Profile > Security

  2. Under Multi-Factor Authentication, click Enable MFA

  3. Follow the steps to connect an Authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy):

    • Download and open the app

    • Scan the QR code shown on screen

    • Enter the 6-digit code generated

  4. Save your recovery codes in a secure location

  • Confirm that you've saved the codes and finish setup

  • Once complete, you'll see that MFA is active on your profile.

Managing MFA Across Your Team

As an admin, go to Settings > Manage Users to see who has MFA enabled:

  • You’ll see a new MFA column with a ✅ or ❌

  • Click Enable MFA to send setup instructions to users who haven’t activated it yet

  • Generate new recovery codes anytime if needed
